The University founded by Rev. Fr. Boniface Hardin, O.S.B. and Sister Jane Schilling to serve low-income, minority, and adult-aged persons who may not be welcome in another setting of higher education is in need of help from the community it serves. The mission has always been service to people in need, the ones marginalized by society. Martin's philosophy is that higher education must be made available to all who can benefit.
In higher education, there is no mission without money. Father Hardin and Sister Jane were "All In" for service to people. They never took time to build operating funds. They were too busy saving lives and giving all they had to others. Now, we need other to keep their dream alive. We need others to ensure that Martin University will continue to serve students who struggle, but can learn; students under economic hardships in need of a way out; students once incarcerated in need of a second chance; students who have been found unworthy of college according to culturally-biased tests and evaluations; students, immigrants to this country, seeking the American Dream; students in need of a caring and nurturing learning environment; and students like you and me.
The "All In For Martin!" Campaign is the most important initiative in the 36 year history of the University. We must succeed! The Community, the City, and the State need a university like Martin. It is a small private liberal arts university offering 14 undergraduate degrees and 2 master's degree programs, but it is so much more than this. It functions as a unique community university, with a student support center which provides a math/science lab and a writing/literacy lab to assist students in developing competency. Student advisement and support is essential for success and Martin believes in student success.
Help us to continue the dream of the Founders and help us preserve the hope for future Martin students. Come with us and go: "ALL IN FOR MARTIN!"
